Trudy's new album is called "Déjà Vu ". The themed concept album will be released on Jazzizit Records on 5th November and Trudy's quartet will play a week of dates starting with a launch at the Pizza Express in Dean Street on 5th November

Kerr’s theme for the CD is based on songs that have a significant link to her past.  The twelve beautiful tracks display Kerr’s undoubted versatility as a jazz singer.  The title track “Déjà Vu”, is one Trudy sang in her first band at 17  - her delivery is mature and reflective over the new 3/4 groove.  “Out of this World” is cool, swinging and laid back.  A self-penned lyric to Dave Holland’s “Dream of the Elders” reflects her time spent in the South Pacific living with the native Melanesian tribes.

Trudy is accompanied by the fabulous Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren, (collaborations include Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson and Herb Geller) her husband Geoff Gascoyne on bass and Steve Brown on drums.  Geoff has arranged for string quartet a moving version of  “The Summer Knows” as well as augmenting other tracks on the album with strings played by the Juno String Quartet. Trudy’s special guest is Bob Dorough who sang an upbeat duet with Trudy on his original composition of “Up Jumped a Bird”.

Trudy is now a director of Jazzizit Records with Derek Nash. There are over 40 releases on the label.  Trudy is also hosting BBC Radio Kent’s Jazz hour on a Tuesday night with Roger Day where she plays latest UK releases as well classic jazz recordings.  Trudy has recently received great reviews for her children’s jazz CD “JAZZ FOR JUNIORS” and is currently performing the JAZZ FOR JUNIORS show in schools.   In late November she will be touring the UK with the Geoff Gascoyne Project promoting Geoff’s Candid release “Keep it to Yourself, on which she is a featured vocalist.  Please check her myspace for dates. http://www.myspace.com/trudykerr
